Substrate preparation

Substrates related to the ground

The substrate must be load-bearing, hard, stable, dry, compact, free from dirt and layers weakly bonded to the substrate or weakening adhesion (e.g. fats, bitumen, dust, adhesives, paint and mortar residues). Repair larger defects in the ground, e.g. with weber.floor 1000 or weber.floor RAPID. A cleaned, dry and repaired substrate should be primed with weber.floor 4716 - concentrate for dilution with water or weber PG201 - ready for use. For weber.floor 1000 layers below 30 mm, the sludge method is recommended, which consists of sprinkling freshly poured soil with a small amount of dry weber.floor 1000 mortar and rubbing the sludge with a brush into the ground. The primer layer increases the adhesion of the mortar to the substrate and prevents dehydration of the mortar before setting. The priming should be carried out 3-24 hours before laying the weber.floor 1000 mortar. Repeat the priming if the weber.floor 1000 mortar will be applied more than 24 hours after the last priming. Detailed information on priming is included in the technical data sheet for weber. floor 4716 and weber PG201. Around walls, columns, pipes, frames, etc. make circumferential dilatations, e.g. using weber dilatation tape. floor 4960. In concave screed corners, additionally reinforce with a piece of steel mesh, e.g. 4 mm 10x10 cm to 15x15 cm or 6 mm 20x20 cm with dimensions min. 40x40 cm.

Non-ground foundations

Level the ground by marking the target level of the floor underlay on the walls. The substrate should be pre-leveled, for example, with dry Leca KERAMZYT or dry roasted sand. Leca KERAMZYT is compacted with a 10% plate compactor measuring 50x50 cm. Make circumferential expansion joints around walls, columns in pipes, etc. using eg weber.floor 4960 expansion tape. Lay the weber.floor 4955 mat or thick building foil (at least 10 cm overlap) with a wall protrusion. Lay the reinforcing mesh with steel rods in 4 mm 10x10 cm to 15x15 cm or 20 mm Ø 20x20 cm.
